Nigeria and Benin

Nigeria was a British colony which became independent in 1960. It is the most populous nation in Africa. Employment is in agriculture, oil, mining, rubber and food processing.

Languages: English, Hausa, Yoruba and Ibo.
Main religions: Muslim, Christian.
Benin Population: 11 million.
Languages: French, Fon and Yoruba.
Main religions: traditional, Christian, Muslim.

CBM activities (Nigeria) There are two CBM visits each year. A fraternal gathering is held in the eastern states in November and in the western states in April. A CYC gathering is held around Easter. (Benin) Visits are made from the UK and Nigeria.

Ecclesias (Nigeria) 28, including Aba, Alayi, Ampfuie, Asaba, Asa Amator, Azumini, Benin City, Calabar, Enugu, Iju-Odo, Jos, Kaduna, Lagos, Ninga, Odochala, Okwe Oborro, Okwe Ikwueke, Owerri, Ozaumnebuku, Port Harcourt, Urhonigbe, Umuahia, Warri (about 700 members in total); (Benin) Cotonou (10 members).
