Mauritius lies off the coast of Africa to the east of Madagascar. It is a former British colony which gained independence in 1968 and still considers itself to be part of the Commonwealth. The island has almost full employment, much of which is now moving away from the traditional work in sugar and tea plantations to the highly specialised knitwear garment factories.
Population: 1.3 million.

CBM activities Most preaching work is undertaken by the members and the ecclesia at Rosehill has an active preaching and study programme. The members also support the preaching work on the neighbouring island of Rodrigues and on Madagascar. CBM visits are primarily pastoral and Bible study based.
