Malawi lies along the west bank of Lake Malawi. Employment is in agriculture, mainly tea and cotton. Formerly Nyasaland, it gained independence in 1966.

Population: 14 million. Languages: English, Chichewa. Main religions: Christian, Islam, traditional.

CBM activities There are usually two Bible schools a year. There is a CBM centre and campus at Chinamwali, Zomba. Brethren from Malawi undertake preaching activities in Mozambique.

Ecclesias About 200 ecclesias, mainly in the south; about 7,000 members in total.
