Lithuania map One of the Baltic states, Lithuania gained independence from the Soviet union in 1991. The state is undergoing a difficult change to a free-market economy. Lithuania joined the EU in May 2004.

Population: 3.4 million. Language: Lithuanian. Main religion: Roman Catholic.

CBM activities There has been a decline in response to preaching in recent years. Preaching continues but the focus is more on pastoral support. There is an annual Bible School. There have been losses through emigration and deaths, but also a trickle of baptisms.
