Ethiopia lies to the north of Kenya, and is the only country of Africa never to be colonised. Much of its culture reveals a distinctly Hebrew flavour. The capital city Addis Ababa is situated 9,000 ft above sea level. A major religion is the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, which became independent of Rome around 300 AD. Population: 78 million.
