Czech Republic

Czech Republic map Part of the Soviet bloc until the "Velvet Revolution" in 1989, the Czech Republic is the wealthiest and most westward-looking of ex-Soviet countries. It separated from Slovakia in 1993. Both countries joined the EU in May 2004.

Population: 10 million. Language: Czech. Main religion: Roman Catholic.

CBM activities Regular preaching and pastoral visits are made by UK and German Brethren. Public talks, a weekly Bible reading group, and an annual Bible weekend are held in Prague. Despite a number of preaching efforts in Slovakia, results have been limited.
